Welcome to your local Veterans website.

There is Information on this site about the American Legion Bill Brinlee Post 102,

the Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial District

or the BBC (Barn Building Committee).

What is the American Legion Bill Brinlee Post 102?

The American Legion Veterans  is a war-time veterans organization, devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is a not-for-profit community-service organization. See the Calendar of Events page for dates and time of meetings/gatherings.

What is the Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial District (JLVMD)?

The JLVMD has the primary function of supplying a place for veterans to meet and conduct their business.  The JLVMD owns the Vets Hall located at 189 Pine Street in Valley Springs and also the JLVMD Park behind this facility.

The park has baseball fields complete with lights for night games, a snack bar building, gazebo, paved parking lot with handicap accessibility, a playground with several swinging and climbing toys, basketball hoops, and a beautiful setting complete with plenty of shade and benches.

The JLVMD offers their buildings to the public for meeting places. Some organizations that meet there are; The American Legion Bill Brinlee Post 102, BBC, Boy Scout Troop 302, 4-H, Calaveras Twirlers, HRC/WIC, Lind Dance groups, churches who do not have their own buildings, Weight Watchers, The Valley Springs Area Business Association, The Friends of the Library, and quilting groups to name a few.

What is the Barn Building Committee (BBC)?

The BBC is a group of individuals consisting of local business owners and community members who meet twice a month and work towards raising funds to aide in the building of a new Community Building.  The “thermometer” sign posted at the four way stop in Valley Springs on HW 12 and HW 26 shows the current progress in dollar amount that will go towards the new building. The current building (Vet’s Hall) in Valley Springs that is used as a meeting place for dozens of local organizations has become too small and outdated to accommodate our growing community.

What is the difference?

The American Legion Veterans is one of the organizations that meet at the building. The BBC is a group of citizens committed to helping with the new building efforts who also meet at the building. The JLVMD owns the building and properties and rents the buildings uses out to the public for a nominal fee that covers insurance, utilities and other expenses. The JLVMD allows the American Legion, the BBC and dozens of other organizations to use the building (Vet’s Hall) for a meeting place.
